Kim - K Rae Designs

Kim is the brains and creator behind K Rae Designs. After having her first kiddo, she needed a creative outlet while being a stay-at-home mum, and K Rae Designs was born! What started out with ink and brush pens on paper, evolved into developing her own style of lettering and art using her trusty ipad, which is big and bold, motivational and fun, and everything in between (excluding shading and texture!).
She’s a one woman band - from drawing, lettering, designing, replying to DM's and emails, picking up printing, packaging, writing personalised thank you notes, postie runs...you name it! All while juggling #mumlife with 2 small kiddos.

What advice would you give to your 15 year old self?
Don't worry so much about what people God damn think. They're more focused on their own thoughts and insecurities to worry about you. Also...keep rockin' those oversized black basketball shorts at highschool...you've still got them 14 years later 😂😂

What makes you proud to be a woman?
Is that were freakin' amazing! Especially being a woman right now in this day and age where we can pretty much do and be who we want to be without any restrictions. I'm also pretty proud that my body was able to carry, give birth and nurse new life...now that's some magic ish right there!

What's been your biggest challenge in your career so far?
Hmmm it would probably be the juggling of being a mother and having a business. I started my lil biz while being a stay at home mum of 1, now I have 2 under 5 that need constant attention...and feeding (funny that, you've got to feed em and do stuff with them #weird). So finding the right balance between work life and mum life would be my biggest challenge.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Oh man...there was a time I really wanted to be a forensic scientist, then I learnt you needed to do maths and science at high school and beyond for that and I quickly gave up on that idea. During the last years of high school I had my heart set on being a photographer.

Who inspires you most and why?
I would say my parents inspire me the most. My mum and I are best friends and we talk each and every day without fail. She's my biggest inspiration as I admire her strength, guidance and love. My dad is one amazing powerhouse. His work ethic is second to none...I don't think I've ever seen him have a sick day! I also admire his ability to make friends with anyone and his dad jokes haha. They are both so awesome and shaped my sister and I into the strong women we are today.
