Story Dogs is based on the successful American literacy program Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.), which was launched in 1999 as the first comprehensive literacy program built around the appealing idea of children and young adolescents reading to dogs. When children read to dogs, it provides them with a non-judgemental environment, allowing their focus to improve, and their literacy skills and confidence to increase.
We worked with Story Dogs to increase engagement and clients, and in turn increase the overall number of volunteers and sponsorship for the program. To do this, Instagram is being used to utilise persona, conversation, and colour schemes to increase the appeal of the page. Instagram holds an important part in the overall marketing of Story Dogs as it creates awareness with an online audience, whilst creating a ‘relatable’ personality for its existing clients. It also acts as a tool to direct potential volunteers to the already popular Facebook page.
